TYPHOON MANGKUT
We received the following email on September 11, 2018
Dear Parents and Priesthood Leaders,
As you may have seen in recent weather reports pertaining to the Typhoon Mangkut, it is on a projected path near our mission islands. Please be assured that we are taking all necessary precautions to provide for the safety and well-being of our wonderful missionaries. In anticipation of this recurring season, we began weeks ago establishing and testing alternative satellite communication methods, teaching and insuring that missionary apartments are equipped with water storage, and other appropriate emergency preparedness materials and plans. We have also initiated a process of identifying "safe-haven" gathering locations for our missionaries if such were required.
Other islands and parts of the mission that could potential be impacted are preparing with the steps outlined above such as missionaries in the Zones Calasiao, Lingayen, and Dagupan. We are also in close communication with the Area Presidency of the Church, Area Seventies, and local Church leaders and members to insure that proper procedures and safeguards are in place.
We will closely monitor these serious weather conditions and communicate with you as necessary. Brother and sisters, I have a firm and tender testimony of the Lord's awareness of and love for those who serve Him in the great missionary of the Church. He has heard our prayers and has answered our concerns. We are grateful for your prayers and we are grateful for the absolutely wonderful missionaries we have been blessed to associate with and work beside. We love them!
Please contact me with any concerns you may have regarding this or other matters pertaining to the mission. Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
President and Sister Espinosa

Dear Parents and Priesthood Leaders,
As you may have been informed the level 2 Typhoon has surpassed the Philippines and that all necessary precautions to provide for the safety and well-being of our wonderful missionaries have been applied. All missionaries that are in flood prone areas had slept and were taken care of in the pre-assigned “safe havens.”
If for some reason the missionaries are not able to email you this week it is because most parts in the Mission have shut off the internet or the power is down, so please do not worry ALL MISSIONARIES ARE SAFE AND ACCOUNTED FOR! Missionaries will also be provided safe drinking water and food if there is none available in their areas at all times.
Please contact me with any concerns you may have regarding this or other matters pertaining to the mission. Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
President and Sister Espinosa
