LAST PDAY BEFORE THE FIELD

October 3, 2018
Kumusta po!

Yesterday it rained so much and it was so cool. The rain drops were big and warm, the thunder shook the building and the lightning lit up the sky. My teachers didn't react at all to the first crack of thunder, like it was a normal thing. I thought that was funny. It was pretty soothing during class to listen to the rain haha. If you spend half a second outside in the rain you would have been completely soaked. My teachers say that there's another typhoon on the way, call me crazy but I'm super excited to be in the midst of a tropical storm.

There's an elder in my district that I got into an argument with. It was over whether Phineas and Ferb were step brothers or cousins. This Elder really tried to tell me they were cousins. I tried telling him he was wrong but he was so stubborn despite everyone siding with me. He's the kind of guy who can never be wrong. He called me an idiot haha. It really didn't offend me at all or anything but I made sure that he knew not to call me an idiot again lol. Something that I feel like the outside world doesn't realize is that Missionaries are normal people. Sure, we are fully immersed in the gospel and are surrounded by the spirit but at the same time we are still able to have times during the day where we can just talk and hang out. At least, here at the MTC. I have no idea what the field might be like.

A couple days ago I had the biggest stomach ache ever. So bad that I went to the nurse (which I wouldn't normally do) and tried to see what was going on. I explained to her that my stomach was bloated to the point where it stuck out past my chest, I tried eating, I tried going to the bathroom, my chest was all splotchy and I was getting a headache. We eventually ruled out appendecidis and she gave me the Filipino equivalent to a tums and told me that they would check on me later. That little tablet caused me to need to go to the bathroom so quickly and I felt so much better after. The Nurse explained to me that it's normal for an American missionary to experience stomach pains like that from the new food, adjusting to the water and having the stress of serving a mission. It's pretty crazy how much stress this mission causes. If I let my mind go certain places I nearly have a panic attack. All is well though!

Me and my new companion, Elder Kolomalu, are getting along so well since our last pday. I realized why he was so quiet in the beginning is because he and his last companion didn't get along so well. His last companion was the one who called me an idiot. He is very blunt. Anyway, Elder Kolomalu has grown pretty comfortable with me and my group of missionary friends. Elder Summerville (my old comp) and our 2 sisters Sister Weichers and Sister Drake get along really well. I want the 2 sisters to marry my brothers haha.

I got a haircut today and I really like it.  They actually give you a fade here, they wouldn't in Provo. The barber had been cutting hair his whole life and even cut hair without looking. It was so cool but at the same time it made me nervous.

I can't send pictures till next week, google drive is blocked. SORRY!

I love you all so much, have a great week and enjoy conference! I have to watch it the week after :(

Elder McDonald

On PDAYS I go to the temple, hang out with my district, I am allowed to go off campus and walk down the street so I do that. Sometimes shop at the market, read. I'm reading this book called the Saints which is really good and about the early days of the church. It cost 60p which is like 1.20$
