ayaw kooooooo
January 20, 2019
Hey guys! I hope you all had a good week! The title of my Email in English means "I don't want toooooooo," let me explain to you why I gave this email that title...
So on Tuesday, we had a dinner appointment with an RM named Rogine Biador and we brought an investigator (Merylle) with us. In the Philippines, the sun always goes down around 6pm. And our appt. was at 7pm. So keep in mind that it was dark outside. We met Merylle at the 7/11 and from there we walked to Rogine's house. Which meant we walked through the Mapandan Cemetary and let me tell you, Merylle did not want to hahaha. She immediately grabbed my arm (which I understand might not be allowed, but I didn't know what to do haha). Elder Sau and I looked at each other, and without saying a word we both knew what to do. We took off running through the Cemetary! HAHAHA! Merylle tried running after us but her legs were too tiny to keep up. I stayed just close enough to hear her whimpering as she tried to keep up with us. It was probably the hardest I've laughed in a while.
After dinner, it was too late to catch a trike or a jeep which meant Merylle had to walk home. From Rogine's house, she had 3 choices... (1) was to go back the way we came through the cemetary and hope for a trike to drive by (2) was to go through a place called Apaya but the path was very dark and long (3) to go through this corn field and then through a place called Pias which was also a dark path. Merylle didn't want to do any of those hahaha. So I chose for her, and I chose number 3 because that was the fastest way to her house. And of course Elder Sau and I escorted her home. But we weren't the best escorts hahaha. We went the whole way just scaring her and after she got home she said she hated us haha. Luckily she is still letting us teach her hahaha.
Something I learned about being companions with an Australian is that even though we both were raised speaking English, there's going to be a language barrier hahaha. He doesn't understand me and often times I don't understand him. Usually it's the slang haha. Like trash for Australian's is rubbish. Stuff like that.
The ground breaking of the Urdaneta temple happened on the 16th! Unfortunately the missionaries weren't invited but I'll send a picture of what the temple will look like!!!
Sorry, no pictures again this week. I promise pictures next week! But here are some fun facts about me and my companion!
Elder Sau -- he sleeps with his eyes open...
Elder Sau -- he sleeps with his eyes open...
Me -- I can't sleep knowing someone is staring at me so a lot of nights I don't get much sleep knowing he's looking at me even if I know he's a sleep haha.... I try not to look at him
Love you all!
Elder McDonald
